Design of 300 Ghz On-Chip Antenna

Abstract:
This work presents an integrated on-chip antenna with a center frequency of 300 GHz and a relative bandwidth of 20% (60 GHz) and a simulated gain of 22.5 dBi. The operation of the antenna was enabled by incorporating three main elements, T-shaped feed monopole directly connected to a low noise amplifier (LNA) on the top of the chip, a bowtie slot in the backside metalization (ground plane) and a silicon lens attached to the backside of the chip.
