"A Comparison of System Architectures for Wireless Links in the Terahertz Band"

Congratulations to Dr.-Ing. Iulia Dan from the entire team at ILH, on the successful defense of her PhD thesis “A Comparison of System Architectures for Wireless Links in the Terahertz Band”.

The thesis thoroughly investigates the pros and cons of direct-conversion and superheterodyne link architectures for millimeter-wave (220 to 330 GHz) wireless communication links intended for beyond 5G and 6G applications. The investigation is based on various transmission experiments performed with specifically designed and fabricated fully integrated analog transmit and receive frontends which have proven the capability of transmitting up to 100 Gbit/s using complex modulated signals.
Iulia worked as a research assistant at ILH for almost 5 years and conducted research in the field of circuit as well as system analysis and design of analog transmit and receive frontends for  300 GHz wireless communication.
